A high-speed fabric is only as good as its cabling. At 800G and 400G the optical power budget narrows; a dirty connector, the wrong polarity or one extra splice point means the link either never comes up or, worse, comes up intermittently.

The catalogue covers MTP/MPO trunk cables, LC and MDC cassettes, patch panels, in-rack cable management hardware and labelling materials. These are items you can buy individually, but they deliver the right result when planned together.

Mevasis plans cabling in one design alongside switch and optics selection, and after installation every link is handed over labelled and documented.

How to choose

Fiber count and polarity

On MTP/MPO trunk cables the fiber count (12, 16 or 24) and the polarity type must match exactly what the module at the far end expects. A polarity error shows up in the field as a link that never comes up, or comes up in one direction only, and takes time to diagnose. That is why we plan cabling and optics selection together.

Cassette or direct connection?

Cassettes break a high-density trunk into individual connections inside the rack, producing a tidy structure that is easy to maintain. A direct connection means fewer components and lower insertion loss but less flexibility. Cassettes suit lab environments that change often; direct connections suit fixed production deployments.

Loss budget

Every extra connector and cassette takes a share of the optical power budget. On long runs and designs with many patch points, the total loss must be calculated to stay within the module's budget. We do that calculation at the quoting stage.

Rack density and airflow

Cable management is a thermal requirement, not an aesthetic one. Disorderly cabling blocks switch exhaust, raising temperatures and causing unexpected shutdowns. Panels, cable trays and vertical managers are therefore part of the plan.

Yes. We build a per-link cabling list from the rack layout, port plan and topology; trunk lengths, cassette types, panel counts and the labelling scheme are all part of it.

Usually yes, if the fiber type and connector structure are compatible with your new speed tier. Share test reports or an inventory of the existing plant and we will report what can be kept and what needs replacing.

As part of the installation service every link is labelled at both ends and a cabling document mapping ports to links is handed over. That document noticeably shortens time spent on site during a fault.
